Designing a Kitchen That Photographs Well
For villa owners letting their property, the kitchen sells the listing. What actually photographs well, and what quietly ruins a shot.

What the camera exaggerates
A camera flattens depth and amplifies clutter, reflections and colour temperature mismatches. A kitchen that looks fine in person can photograph badly because of a single shiny splashback or one cool-white bulb among warm ones.
Surfaces that behave on camera
Matte and honed finishes photograph more easily than gloss, which throws hotspots. Mid-tone timber and stone with gentle variation read richly, while pure white blows out and very dark fronts lose all detail.
Composition built into the design
A clear sightline from the living area to a well-composed elevation gives the photographer something to shoot. An island with one considered object on it, a window in frame and no visible small appliances is the whole formula.
Do not design only for the camera
A kitchen that photographs beautifully and has nowhere to put a kettle will frustrate whoever lives there. Plan concealed storage so the clean image is simply how the kitchen looks, not a staged condition.
Matte over gloss
Gloss surfaces throw hotspots. Honed stone and matte fronts photograph far more easily.
“The best-photographing kitchens are the ones with the most hidden storage.”
