What to Know Before Choosing Brass
- Finish character: unlacquered brass darkens and warms where it is handled, so a handle used daily develops a patina and one at the end of a run stays brighter
- Climate performance: humidity and coastal air accelerate that change, which is why lacquered brass is the usual specification near the sea and unlacquered inland
- Maintenance: lacquered brass needs only wiping, unlacquered can be brought back with light polishing whenever you want it brighter
- Pairing with cabinetry: brass sits naturally against dark teak, matt lacquer and natural stone, and fights with cool greys and polished chrome fittings

Sampled Against Your Own Materials Before Production
Brass changes appearance more than any other finish depending on what is around it and what light falls on it. The same handle reads warm and golden against timber and almost green against a cool grey front. That is why samples go into the actual room, against the actual cabinetry and worktop, under the light the kitchen will have rather than showroom light. Choosing from a photograph or a small swatch on a desk is how people end up with brass that does not sit with anything else in the room.
